Military Service & Filmmaking Debut
Pursuing his passion for film since 1988, after high school he served his country in the US Military and participated in video production opportunities creating educational videos for troops while performing his main duties. Upon retiring with Distinguished Military Service, Jovaun settled in Jacksonville, Florida, where he debuted as an independent filmmaker shortly after COVID, pursuing his passion in film under the brand Tenguu Vision. His efforts took off with an already bright career as an award-winning Producer for the horror feature proof of concept “The Legend of William Boucher”, establishing him as a captivating figure in the local film scene. His journey is as diverse as it is fascinating.
Technical Expertise & Mentorship
Jovaun has contributed to numerous projects as a Director of Photography, Stuntman, Actor, 2nd Unit Director, Producer, Choreographer, line accountant, and other roles as a team player, including Mentorship for many beginning filmmakers in the Jacksonville community. He has collaborated extensively with local figures, including Soulful Minds Media, and is a prominent figure in the Jacksonville independent film community—known as the “Jack in the Box” for his versatility.
Notable Works & Achievements
Recent works include short films like The Creature Beyond the Woods, An Untold Christmas Story, Life of Death, F.R.A.N.K., American Ghetto Superstar, and the 2023 48 Hour Film Festival (Orlando) Winner under Freeman Films, Roommates: An Effing Musical. With more projects to come, raising the standard from legendary to mythical remains the agenda.
Career Goal: Build a Legacy
The ultimate career goal is to direct a feature film under his own company or with an industry-level production company and start an industry-recognized filmmaking learning center in Jacksonville.
